New Delhi: State Election Commissioner Bhanwarlal on Tuesday denied the allegation that widespread deletion of voters from the GHMC list had taken place recently.

After meeting the Chief Election Commissioner with regard to the bypolls in Telangana, Bhanwarlal said only 6 per cent of voters names had been delisted from the GHMC,

whereas the number of voters removed from the other districts was far higher. Nizamabad saw removal of 26 per cent of voters.

He said action would be initiated against the officials if irregularities were found. He also rubbished the charge that his meeting with K Chandrasekhar Rao in the past was more political in nature.

“I am an Andhra cadre official. There is no TRS in AP. Why attribute motives to any meeting at all?” he said.
