Khammam: If you are working on your vacation plans and to spend some quality time with your family members, you have every reason to keep the magnificent cascading Bagotha waterfalls of Khammam district on your agenda.

The roaring Bagotha waterfalls, surrounded with dense forest and located at Chikupally village of Wazedu mandal of Khammam district, is an amazing tourist spot and an ideal spot for picnic with family or friends.

If you are traveling to the Bagotha waterfalls, you can travel by two road routes, one is from Bhadrachalam to Wazedu and then to Chikupalli village about 120 km. The other route is from Eturnagaram of Warangal district about 30 km from the National Highway 163, which connects Chhattisgarh through Kanthanapalli bridge across the river Godavari. There is Sri Bogadri Lakshmi Narasmiha Swamy temple situated near the waterfalls.

A resident of Veerapuram village, Rambayamma, who is looking after the temple, says: “It is a sacred place with the beautiful waterfalls. For the past 15 years, our family members have been taking care of the temple. In the past, people were afraid of coming to the place due to dense forests, but after laying the roads, the people have started visiting the waterfalls.”

“Water here is too deep. Our elders say that they had tried to measure the depth of the water by tying a big stone to a thread and dropped it into the water. Even after using a long thread, as much of the thread required to weave seven beds (in Telugu they call it Nulu Mancham), they could not estimate its depth,” she narrates.

A Jatara will be organised during May every year. Many people from the surrounding villages come and take the blessings of Sri Bogadri Lakshmi Narasmiha Swamy. Padma and her family who had come from Bhimavaram to see the place said, “The place is wonderful with lots of greenery, Sri Lakshmi Narasmiha Swamy temple, dense forests and the waterfalls. We enjoyed a lot.”

Thoutam Krishna, who works in the Reddy Labs of Hyderabad said, “I came to know about the Bagotha waterfalls from one of my friends who lives in Warangal. He sent me the video clips about the waterfalls in Whatsapp. By seeing the beautiful waterfalls and the nature, I visited the place immediately. Though the waterfall is not so high, the surroundings are very pleasant. The water is very refreshing with herb infused in it.”
