Hyderabad: Justice A Ramalingeshwara Rao of the High Court at Hyderabad on Tuesday set aside the action of the NTR Health University Hyderabad and consequentially the results of 12 candidates who took their Post Graduate and Diploma examination from Osmania Medical College.

About 16 of the 32 candidates who appeared for the Post-Graduate degree examination in Anaesthesia and also the Diploma course had failed in the examination. Dr Shravan Kumar and 12 others filed a writ petition complaining that the conduct of the practical examination was contrary to the regulation of the Medical Counsel of India.

They complained that the regulations prescribed two separate sets of examiners for the PG course and Diploma course and the examination was conducted by a common set of examiners. Counsel Simhadri appearing for the petitioners pointed out that the action was vitiated as it was not open for the medical college to conduct the examination in violation of the prescription under the regulation.

In a separate development the judge also allowed a similar writ petition filed by Dr Samhitha against the Deccan Medical College for a similar error in the faculty of psychiatry. The judge directed the authorities to conduct the practical examinations afresh in compliance with the regulation.
