Rythu Bazaars in all Assembly constituencies

Plans are afoot to make vegetables available at affordable prices across the State

Hyderabad: The Telangana government is on a move to provide at least one Rythu Bazaar for each constituency, according to Telangana Irrigation, Marketing and Legislative Affairs Minister, Harish Rao.

Inaugurating a Rythu Bazaar at Serlingampally here on Tuesday, he said the government was all set to establish ideal bazaars for the convenience of the public for purchase and farmers to sell vegetables at reasonable prices. When onion prices were at peak,

the Telangana government had purchased 54 tons of onions by investing 25 crores and sold the same at Rs.30 per kilogram to the public, he said. He informed that a high-level meeting would be held with regard to the distribution of Rajeev Swagruha and JNNURM houses on October 30.

Speaking on the occasion, Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy said the foundation stone would be laid very soon for the construction of Rythu Bazaar at Parigi, Chevella and Tandur districts. He informed that the Telangana government would spend Rs 1,900 crores for water supplies on the suburban areas and was spending Rs 290 crore works in Serlingampally constituency.

He said that measures were being taken to make Hyderabad an international city by spending Rs 10 crore to Rs 16 crore for infrastructure under Swachh Hyderabad in each constituency in the district.

He said the government had provided houses to 80,000 people through GO NO.58 till now and 12,000 double-bedroom houses in Hyderabad would be given to the poor by next year.

The others who were present in the event were MLA Arekapudi Gandhi, Kukatpally MLA M Krishna Rao, Marketing Additional Director, Laxmi Bai, District Marketing AD Uma Devi and others.
