BRS and LRS guidelines issued
Guidelines for the much awaited Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) and Building Regularisation Scheme (BRS) were issued on Monday. Property owners, be it a building or open land, were given two months time to file their applications. All the applications will be disposed off in six months after which the government will take stringent action against unauthorised structures under the GHMC limits.

Two months time given to applicants
Hyderabad: Guidelines for the much awaited Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) and Building Regularisation Scheme (BRS) were issued on Monday. Property owners, be it a building or open land, were given two months time to file their applications. All the applications will be disposed off in six months after which the government will take stringent action against unauthorised structures under the GHMC limits.
GOs-151 and 152 were issued in this connection by Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MAUD). As far as BRS is concerned, all constructions that were built between January 1, 1985 and October 28, 2015, in deviation of building plan, are eligible to apply for this scheme. Constructions that were built on government lands, tank bed or Sikham lands would not be regularised and such applications would be rejected.
Applications could be sent online by payment of Rs 10,000 penal amount initially. Stringent action against illegal constructions
In a strong deterrent to law breakers, the Telangana government is mulling to impose three times the fine on actual amount of property tax, water and electricity bills on all unauthorised constructions in the twin cities that have come up illegally. The government is likely to slap criminal cases against owners of illegal constructions for which amendments would be made in the existing law by seeking views of legal experts.
Elaborating the details, Commercial Taxes Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who is the chairman of the sub-committee constituted to prepare guidelines for BRS and LRS, stated that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao ordered strict guidelines to overcome the problem of unauthorised constructions.
“A proposal is being examined to form Enforcement Wing and Flying Squads to check violations. Also building permissions would be taken up under single window system in the future,” he said.
The previous round of BPS (Building Penalisation Scheme) was announced during Congress regime in January 2008 and constructions raised illegally before December 2007 were regularised.
