Warangal: Even as the police are investigating the suspicious deaths of former lawmaker Sircilla Rajaiah’s daughter-in-law Sarika and her three children in all possible angles, an email purportedly written by her has made shocking revelations on Thursday about the excruciating life that she had led in the last few years.

The email which she sent to her advocate Rehana in Hyderabad in 2014 sums up the story of her ruined life exposing her in-laws Rajaiah and Madhavi Latha, an assistant professor in Kakatiya University, and her husband Anil Kumar. Sarika alleged that her mother-in-law induced her to elope with her son when she was waiting to settle down before her marriage with Anil.

In her letter, Sarika said that her ordeals started immediately after her marriage with Anil in 2006. Life had become miserable for Sarika with her mother-in-law’s abusive and oppressive behaviour towards her. At every given opportunity, she was subjected to humiliation in front of outsiders, workers and family members, the email said.

The situation became even worse for Sarika after Rajaiah became MP in 2009 as her husband and mother-in-law started to behave arrogantly. Even when Sarika complained about the extramarital affairs of her husband, her in-laws supported their son and scolded her. Neither her husband nor her in-laws looked after her needs when she gave birth to twins in 2013.

She had to sell her mangalasutram for her living. There were many instances of starving with no money in hand, she said in the mail. One of the most shocking answers Sarika got from Rajaiah was: “You have to sacrifice your life for your husband and in-laws just like many other women do.

What else you can do? Nothing will happen to us as we have power in our hands. You will end up as a beggar,” she wrote. Deeply hurt by this response, she wanted to end her life. But somehow she recovered from the depression and started to live boldly.

According to the email, Anil took away a few lakhs of rupees and 20 tolas gold from Sarika which she earned while in the United Kingdom. It’s learnt that Sarika had earlier approached Shaheen’s Women’s Organisation in 2011 seeking justice from her husband and in-laws.
