Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao would inaugurate the 2BHK houses at IDH Colony at 2 PM on Monday, informed GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Dr Janardhan Reddy.

The IDH Colony is located in Ward No. 145, Padmarao Nagar, New Bhoiguda, Secunderabad. A total of 360 houses in 11 blocks were constructed by erstwhile MCH in the year 1969. Due to poor maintenance and other reasons, out of 11 blocks, reconstruction of four blocks which were in dilapidated condition was taken up by APSHCL/GHMC under VAMBAY scheme.

Rao will inaugurate 396 houses which are spread over 6.10 acres in (G+2) pattern in 33 blocks at IDH Colony in New Bhoiguda. The two bedroom houses were constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 36.54 crore under Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan (SCSP) and Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP).

The official further stated that the construction of about 384 houses of total 396 houses had been already completed in October. The civic body, two days ago, had finished the pending construction works of remaining 12 two-bedroom houses. The corporation has completed the construction of sewerage, nalas, roads and street lights.

The State government has spent about Rs 31.28 crore for construction of the houses and Rs 5.25 crore for their infrastructure. The unit cost of each double-bedroom house was about Rs 9.2 lakh (Rs 7.90 for housing and Rs 1.33 for infrastructure).

The majority of beneficiaries are 276 Scheduled Castes, 31 Scheduled Tribes, 79 Backward Castes/Other Castes and Minorities. The plinth area of the dwelling unit is about 580 sq ft with living room, 2 bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom.
