Marking the conclusion of the meetings Monday, CPI (M) State Secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram alleged that the government had been giving short shrift to the Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Minorities and the most Backward Classes.

He said though the population of STs in Telangana State had increased from 6 per cent in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh to 10 per cent after the State formation, reservations in government jobs had not been proportionally increased.

He observed that attacks on Dalits had been increasing of late and that the entire agricultural sector had plunged into crisis. He demanded that the government regulate the moneylending business to ensure that the farmers are not fleeced by usurers.

He also demanded that the government repay the private loans amounting to Rs 12,000 crore taken by farmers from moneylenders. He also demanded that the BC sub-plan be implemented.

He clarified that CPI (M) would not join any grand alliance in future. He added that the aspects which came up for discussions in the two-day meetings would be discussed at the party plenary which would be held at Kolkata in December.
