New Delhi: State Congress leaders K Jana Reddy, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Mohd Ali Shabbir, along with Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president, N Uttam Kumar Reddy huddled with the AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh, for about an hour, analysing the outcome of the Warangal byelection and the strategy for the upcoming MLC elections in Telangana State.

It was also decided at the meeting that the ticket for contesting Narayankhed byelection should go to the son of Kishta Reddy who passed away recently. A formal announcement in this regard would be made soon. The AICC also directed the State unit to fight elections on its own without any alliances in future in Telangana State. Alliance with parties like the AIMIM, which fought the just-concluded Bihar elections independently to dent the chances of the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance), was not desirable. As a consequence, the party had decided to go it alone in elections in future.

Speaking to the media after the meeting with Digvijay Singh at the AICC, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the party preferred to fight the elections singly in future in the State. He stated that though the outcome of the byelection results to Warangal Lok Sabha was painful, the responsibility would not be pinned on any individual. It would be a collective responsibility, he added. The party would prepare the list of MLC contenders at the earliest and forward it to the high command, he added.
