Ganesh idols buried this time

Bhadrachalam: Following publication of the plight of Ganesh idols strewn on the riverbed of Godavari in these columns, the officials of village panchayat headed by its secretary P Venkateswara Rao removed the idols and buried them in a seven-feet pit on the river bed.

The idols remained on the riverbed for the last three months. Rao said the idols were immersed in the river during Ganesh Chaviti. However, as water receded the idols became visible. Since there is no water in the river, they have taken a decision to bury the idols. It is said that burying the idols was against Hindu dharma.
