Nizamabad: District Collector Yogita Rana on Monday appreciated the mandal-level officials and MGNREGS staff for providing works worth Rs 1 crore daily to the labour Under Employment Guarantee Scheme in Nizamabad district.

The Collector reviewed various government schemes with the mandal-level officials through video conference from the District Collectorate.

On the occasion, she said that despite the severe drought conditions in the district and almost nil employment to rural and agricultural sector labour, the NREGS staff and MPDOs succeeded in providing works daily to the labour worth Rs one crore.

Presently about 1.78 lakh workers are getting works under NREGS against 13,000 workers four months ago, she said and appreciated Yedapally, Varni, Nizamsagar, Nizamabad, Machareddy, Kotagiri, Gandhari, Bodhan, Birkur, Banswada, Pitlam MPDOs for successfully generating works and paying Rs 130 on average.

The Collector also welcomed the works of Balkonda, Banswada, Birkur, Bodhan, Jakranpally, Kamareddy, Makloor, Morthad, Navipet, Renjal, Tadwai, Yedapally Mandal Officials for generating workers pay orders within three days and placing the district in the first place at national-level.

The Collector said that presently the district authorities were providing NREGS works to 54,000 SC families against the total 96,000; to 30,000 ST families against the total 50,000; 5,000 minorities families against 11,000 families and directed the officials to provide work to all these families in future.

She also told them to make the NREGS payments through bank accounts against the present practice of postal accounts. Joint Collector A Ravinder Reddy, AJC Rajaram, DRO Mohanlal, DWMA PD Venkateshwarlu and other officials were present in the conference.
