Hyderabad: The State government is all set to ring out 2105 by issuing a number of GOs pertaining to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and ring in 2016 with election notification.

According to GHMC sources, due to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for MLC (Local Authorities Constituencies (LAC)), many developmental programmes including inauguration of double-bedroom houses, distribution of auto tippers and bins to collect door-to-door garbage have been stalled in all 12 municipalities in Ranga Reddy and Medak districts.

Ten municipalities including LB Nagar, Gaddiannaram, Uppal, Malkajgiri, Kapra, Alwal, Quthbullapur, Kukatpally, Serilingampally and Rajendra Nagar are in Ranga Reddy and two municipalities Ramachandrapuram and Patancheru are in Medak district.

The GHMC sources told The Hans India that the State government was all set to release GOs on December 31 after the MCC of MLC (LAC) election. They said the government would release GOs relating to waiver of about Rs 130 crore electricity dues and Rs 300 crore water dues which would benefit about five lakh residents in the city limits. Besides this, the State government will also release a GO pertaining to reduction of property tax from Rs 1,200 to Rs 101 in the city limits.

The government had earlier announced to construct 400 double-bedroom houses in each Assembly constituency. It already completed the construction of double bedroom houses in IDH Colony at New Bhoiguda in Secunderabad Assembly constituency and inaugurated others in 13 Assembly constituencies in Hyderabad district. It will inaugurate double-bedroom houses in the remaining nine Assembly constituencies in Ranga Reddy and Medak districts.

The civic body sources further said the TRS government would inaugurate two-bedroom houses for urban poor in all remaining nine Assembly constituencies including Malkajgiri, Quthbullapur, Kukatpally, Uppal, LB Nagar, Maheswaram, Rajendra Nagar and Serilingampally in Ranga Reddy and Patancheru in Medak district on December 31 and January 1, which were stalled due to MCC. It would also distribute auto tippers and garbage bins to collect door-to-door garbage, they added.

The civic body officials also said the State Election Commission (SEC) would issue election notification on January 1 after finalising the reservation of wards in the GHMC limits and poll schedule on January 2. They also said that SEC was likely to conduct polls on January 23.
