Hyderabad: The Telangana Congress party is facing a tough task ahead of the elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) because lack of cohesion between the State and local leadership. The State leadership has taken up the task of leading the campaign on its shoulders because it is considering the GHMC elections as very important.

Local leaders and former Ministers, including M Mukesh Goud and Danam Nagender, who carried a lot of clout when the Congress was in power, seem to have lost touch with people in the city. Mukesh Goud is conspicuous by his absence in the party campaigns since the TRS came to power. The State leadership has reportedly given up its efforts to bring Mukesh Goud back into
limelight.

Danam Nagender, who is considered to be a strong city leader, is yet to get into action. But his move to quit the party and later retracing his steps later seems to have dented his influence in the party.

On the other hand, P Vishnuvardhan Reddy, who represented Jubilee Hills constituency, is keeping a low profile after losing the 2014 elections. Former MLA and actress Jayasudha, who is believed to have influence with the voters in Secunderabad, is said to have retired from politics. “She has officially announced her intention.

But we shall be roping in Mukesh Goud and Vishnuvardhan Reddy for campaigning. Let the notification be announced, they will come forward,” said Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir. Meanwhile, the TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy and leader of opposition in Legislative Council Shabbir Ali have taken the lead in campaigning against MIM in its stronghold Chandrayangutta.
