Hyderabad: The State Minorities Commission (SMC) has taken up the case of Balwinder Singh, who had attacked his parents and two others with a sword in Karimnagar, Suo moto. It directed the District Collector and SP to submit a detailed report by Wednesday.

Within days of the incident, where Balwinder Singh, a techie working for a software giant, Oracle, in Bengaluru went berserk with a sword attacking his parents and two others, the SMC has issued notice to Superintendent of Police and District Collector.

Responding to several complaints from the Sikh minorities alleging that the deceased was working in a software company and that he was not a psycho, the Commission has directed the officials to submit a detailed report to it as to how and why he was killed? “Besides having a good job, he was pursuing for Civil services,” said Sardar Sarjith Singh, member, AP State Minorities Commission.

Sikh leaders, representing his case, describe him as brilliant student who had attained top 6th rank in ICET. He pursued MCA at NIT Warangal. Later, he was selected through campus selection and was currently earning an annual package of Rs 18.5 lakh in Oracle.

“For last two years, he has been working with Oracle and visited his parents in Karimnagar once in a fortnight,” said Dharmender Singh, a community leader who has taken up the issue with local authorities.

According to Dharmender Singh, Balwinder Singh ‘went out of control’, after he had an argument over some domestic issue with his father and his mother after they reprimanded him.

The parents failed to comprehend that he was in stress. After injuring parents, he hurt two others, an auto-driver and an Ayyappa devotee. “No other person was injured, as is being claimed that a constable was also injured,” he said.
