Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday lauded the services of former Minister P Janardhan Reddy to the poor in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Uttam Kumar Reddy was addressing a meeting held at Necklace Road here to commemorate the death anniversary of Janardhan Reddy.

The TPCC president recalled that Janardhan Reddy had led the the party as the Congress Legislature Party Leader when the party had just 26 MLAs. His leadership had helped revive the party. Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy said some leaders within the party had caused mental agony to Janardhan Reddy. Describing PJR as a great leader, Jaipal Reddy regretted that there was no such tall leader in the city now.

PJR’s son and former MLA P Vishnuvardhan Reddy said his father had never deserted his parent party though the party suspended him from primary membership of the party. “My family members asked my father to join some other political party then, but he had resolutely turned it down,” Vishnuvardhan said.

He said he would strive to strengthen of the Congress party in Hyderabad by following in the footsteps of his father. Former Minister Ponnala Laxmaiah, MPs V Hanumantha Rao, Rapolu Ananda Bhasker and former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav and others participated in the meeting.
