Mahbubnagar: Literary experts here on Thursday exhorted the students to imbibe literary spirit and help develop new trends. The literary experts were speaking at a seminar, held at Palamuru University here on the topic “Trends in American Literature.”

Prof A Karunaker, Director for Osmania University Centre for International programmes and Chairman of the Board of Studies, Department of English, was the Chief Guest.

The main objective of the seminar is to promote the English literature scholars in all the Postgraduate Centres in Mahbubnagar and help them learn the new trends and acquire knowledge of contemporary trends in English literature.

The English literature scholars from postgraduate centres in Gadwal, Wanaparthy, Kollapur and Mahabubngar took part and interacted with the experts. Prof Karunaker explained the trends in American literature by the PowerPoint presentation. Introducing the topic to the scholars, he said, “American literature was shaped by the history of the country.”

Many factors had moulded literature in America, he said. Dr. Guduru Manoja, Head Department of English, and Dr Vangeepuram Sreenathachary, Vice-Principal of the University College, said the seminar was aimed at helping the students from rural areas understand the latest trends in literature.

The interactive session at the end of the lecture was coordinated by Gadwal and Kollapur postgraduate centres principals Dathatri and Krishnaiah and faculty members of the postgrduate centres Shiva Shankar, Mehamood, Ramu, Parushuram, Sidharth and Kalpana also participated.
