Participating in a review meeting on the works pertaining to Mission Kakatiya in the district through a video conference on Sunday , the Minister enquired from the officials about the progress in the first phase of Mission Kakaitya works and told them that 653 works were grounded in 667 tanks and 14 works were not taken up yet. He directed the officials concerned to submit a detailed report regarding these 14 works. In the first phase, 233 works were completed and the remaining still pending, he added.
The Irrigation Minister said that under the second phase of Mission Kakatiya, the State government should be ready to take up 700 tanks works, but the irrigation officials sent only 96 tanks estimations. He directed the officials to send estimations for 400 tanks by January, 15 and send for the remaining 300 tanks by the end of this month.
Harish said that the TSPSC should select the Junior Engineers within 15 days and government would allot them to Irrigation Department to tide over the staff crunch in district, until department should adjusts itself with retired engineers of the Nizamsagar and Godavari lift irrigations schemes engineers, he added.
The Minister said that the Union government sanctioned ‘Repair, Renovation and Restorations’ works to 153 tanks, but the irrigation officials sent ‘Detailed Project Report’ (DPR) to only 129 tanks and gave permission to 106 tanks among them. He told them to send the DPRs of the remaining tanks immediately. Irrigation Principle Secretary Sanjay Joshi, Deputy Secretary Malsu, Nizamabad District Irrigation SE Bhoopal Reddy, Deputy SE Damodhar, Executive Engineers and other officials participated in the video conference.
