Hyderabad: In order to improve the living standards of street vendors and hawkers, the State government on Tuesday decided to regularise them across Telangana. It also issued a notification under Telangana State Street Vending Scheme in this regard.

According to the notification released by Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department, the State government would regularise all street vendors who fall under three categories including mobile vendors, static vendors and vendors who do street vending with small baskets on their head.

The government also directed concerned Urban Local Bodies (ULB) to develop suitable strategies to conduct the survey of street vendors, who fall under all three categories across the State. It also stated that the survey had to be conducted through community resource persons and they should be paid according to the norms of Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA).

The government, after scrutinising the provided data, would issue identity cards and vending certificates to street vendors after collecting registration fee at their respected ULB. The registration fee will be Rs 100 at all ULB level, Rs 150 at municipal corporation level and Rs 200 in mission cities. The same would be applicable for renewal of certificates after three years.

The State government stressed that priority would be given to persons belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, disabled, Backward Castes, women of deprived and vulnerable categories and minorities.
