Hyderabad: Telangana Rythu Ikya Karyacharana Committee chairman Justice B Chandra Kumar observed that long vision was essential for developing Telangana and the global warming would change life in rural areas. Speaking to media persons on ‘Climate Change, Agriculture, Coal and Development’ here on Wednesday, Justice Chandra Kumar said global warming would change the pattern of crop system and affect people with seasonal diseases.

The TRS government was favoring the corporate sector for implementing opencast thermal power plants at Damaracharla NTPC. He observed that development meant development of nation, State, people and not individuals and corporate sectors. Justice Chandra Kumar suggested to the State and Central governments to consider opinions of scientists regarding global warming.

Speaking on the occasion, retired scientist K Babu Rao said sulphur dioxide caused high degree of temperature and public participation was crucial to reduce global warming. This year, the country would face disasters like Chennai and Jammu & Kashmir. He also criticised the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments for following the Singapore model development.

Solar and wind power would reduce the global warming and compared to thermal power, solar and wind power cost less. He said compared to average death rate in Indian villages, rodents died more where there were thermal power plants. Former MP Solipeta Ramachandra Reddy, Pasham Yadagiri and others were present.
