Uproar at KMC meeting
Karimnagar Municipal Corporation general body meeting witnessed noisy scenes with allegations and counter allegations by the ruling and opposition parties’ members. The meeting was held under the chair of the Mayor Ravinder Singh at the Corporation meeting hall on Monday.

While women corporators of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) warned each other by showing slipper, the TRS and Congress members levelled allegations against each other over installation of statue of Indira Gandhi.
The trouble began when the fourth division corporator, Yedla Sarita blamed the 22nd division corporator, Thati Prabhavathi of demanding bribe from one Susheela, who was trying to get permission from the Corporation to construct a house in 22nd division.
Enraged over the allegation, Prabhavathi rose from her seat and entered into argument with Sarita. Both of them rushed to the podium to explain their version to the Mayor Ravinder Singh. Prabhavathi warned Sarita, by showing her slipper not to interfere in the affairs of her division in future.
Sarita also responded in the say way. The Mayor’s efforts to calm down and convince the women coporators were failed. The situation became more serious with the entry of Sarita’s husband, whom Sarita informed over phone. Normalcy was restored in the meeting hall only after both of them left the meeting.
On the other hand, TRS members’ allegations against Congress leaders, former MP Ponnam Prabhakar and Minister D Sridhar triggered tension in the meeting. The ruling party corporators alleged that Prabhakar and Sridhar Babu collected huge amounts to install the statue of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at Telangana Chowk in Karimnagar town.
Congress corporators rushed to the podium and registered their protest by sitting at the podium. They withdrew their protest with the intervention of the Mayor.
