Karimnagar: District Collector Neethu Kumari Prasad admitted that the district authorities have failed in achieving its target of planting saplings during the first phase of Haritha Haram due to dry spell. She asked the officials to upload the details of the plants that have survived.

She held a review meeting with the officials on Haritha Haram phase-II at the Collectorate conference hall here on Friday. She told them a new target of planting four crore saplings during 2016-17 was fixed. Each and every department would be given a target and both agriculture and animal husbandry departments should plant saplings in the lands under their control.

Every village panchayat should plant at least 40,000 saplings during the second phase. Panchayat secretaries should prepare plans and upload them in the computer. The Collector asked the officials to prepare plantation directory by identifying open places and nurseries and advised the Mandal level authorities to raise nurseries in their mandals itself to avoid transportation of saplings from one mandal to another.
