Gowthami Netralayam (eye hospital) was inaugurated in Nehrunagar, here, on Thursday by leaders of the Retired Employees’ Association with the blessings of Gowthami Institutes Chairman V K Raju, who presently resides in the US. Wishing the venture good luck, Raju, quoting the great Telugu poet Sri Sri, observed that one should not be satisfied with one’s achievements and always strive for more.
Doctors exhorted to compete among themselves to help people to overcome sight problems
Khammam: Gowthami Netralayam (eye hospital) was inaugurated in Nehrunagar, here, on Thursday by leaders of the Retired Employees’ Association with the blessings of Gowthami Institutes Chairman V K Raju, who presently resides in the US. Wishing the venture good luck, Raju, quoting the great Telugu poet Sri Sri, observed that one should not be satisfied with one’s achievements and always strive for more.
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the US had stated that the country would emerge on top if all its human resources were used efficiently. Raju cited the example of Nelson Mandela’s struggle for 27 years to achieve democracy in his country and exhorted the doctors to compete among themselves to help people to overcome the sight problems.
Executive Director of the hospital Kuthumbaka Madhu stated that the hospital has been set up as per wishes of his father; at a cost of Rs.4 crore. “The hospital has one of the best operation theatres in the State. Six prominent doctors would supervise the hospital work from 8 am till night,” he explained. Madhu recalled his experience in the field since 1992 and helping people by conducting thousands eye camps since 1997.
Leaders of the association expressed happiness at the Gowthami Institutes launching the hospital. They thanked the management for its gesture, describing the hospital as a gift to people of the district. Marking the opening of the hospital, several eminent persons of the town were felicitated.
