Establishment of Green Houses/ Polyhouses is a flagship programme of the State Government being implemented by the Department from 2014-15, with the following major objectives.
1. Enhancing productivity per unit area.
2. Promotion of high value Horticulture crops under Poly houses.
3. Year round production of flower & Vegetable crops.
Highlights of the scheme:
4. The scheme is implemented with 75% subsidy under Normal State Plan scheme in the entire state for vegetables and flowers
5. Beneficiaries are eligible up to min. of 200 sq.mts and max. of 3.00 acres and preferably farmers small farmers with 0.5 to 1.0 acre area
6. The farmers are given choice for selection under empanelled companies and registered companies.

So far 5 companies were empanelled and 24 companies were registered under the programme for installation of Green houses/ Polyhouses.
For 2015-16, an amount of Rs.250.00 crores has been earmarked for Establishment of Polyhouses during 2015-16 and so far administrative sanction was issued and works initiated to an extent of 245.00 acres.
The number of beneficiaries covered are 196 in Ranga Reddy, Medak, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda and Karimnagar districts.
The Government has releases Rs.125.00 crores so far & works are under different stages
MISSION FOR INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT OF HORTICULTURE ( Sub Scheme NHM)
A Centrally Sponsored Scheme – the schemes of the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture, are being implemented by the State Horticulture Mission with the following objectives
- Promote holistic growth of horticulture sector through research, technology promotion, extension, post harvest management, processing and marketing, in consonance with comparative advantage of each State/region and its diverse agro-climatic features
- Encourage aggregation of farmers into farmer groups like FIGs/FPOs and FPCs to bring economy of scale and scope.
- Enhance horticulture production, augment farmers, income and strengthen nutritional security;
- Improve productivity by way of quality germ plasm, planting material and water use efficiency through Micro Irrigation.
- Support skill development and create employment generation opportunities for rural youth in horticulture and post harvest management, especially in the cold chain sector.
A financial achievement of Rs.36.27 Crores is made so far for implementation of various activities like establishment of new gardens, rejuvenation of senile gardens, HRD, Farm mechanization and Post Harvest Management etc during 2015-16 out of the AAP of Rs 81.00 cr. Improvement of Production and Productivity of Horticulture Crops
New gardens were established in an area of 4608 ha and Rejuvenation of old and senile orchards in an area of 40 Ha. Assistance was provided to promote Mulching in 920 Ha.
Post-Harvest Management
Horticulture crops are highly perishable and require special attention on harvesting, handling, packaging, storage and processing operations. The focus is on development of post harvest infrastructure facilities like Pack houses, Cold storages, Refer Vans, Ripening Chambers etc. Assistance is extended to (8) Cold storages, (3) Ripening Chambers and (55) Turmeric boiling units.
Establishment of Centre of Excellence
Works under progress to establish Centre of Excellence for fruits, flowers and vegetables crops with an outlay of Rs. 9.20 Crores, in an area of 12 acr.35 guntas in Jeedimetla, Rangareddy district with international standards.
The Centre includes hi-tech vegetable nurseries, vegetable cultivation in Poly houses with micro irrigation and mulching. It helps to permit accurate crop scheduling and promote multiple crops per season per unit area. This will also act as model training centre cum demonstration unit for entire Telangana state.
A Centre of Excellence for Fruits is planned in 2015-16 as Indo-Israel Project, incorporating all the aspects of fruit cultivation right from planting to harvest of fruits & Post Harvest Management. DPR prepared after discussions with Counselor, Embassy of Israel and submitted to Govt. of India for approval.
RASHTRIYA KRISHI VIKAS YOJANA (RKVY) Vegetables
RKVY programme is being implemented in the State since 2008 with objectives of Production enhancement by distribution of good quality hybrid vegetable seed to meet the continuous demand of vegetables for productivity & quality enhancement by promoting infrastructure like permanent pandals, shadenet, creeper mesh, & protrays etc.
Major Components of the Scheme are Supply of hybrid vegetable seed, Supply of minikits and onion `seed, Construction of permanent pandals, Shadenet, Creeper mesh, Protrays, and Trainings and awareness campaigns.
The programmes are being implemented with an outlay of Rs. 25.79 crores during 2015-16. So far 11733 ha & 98136 Nos units were grounded with an expenditure of Rs. 20.78 crores.
National Mission on Oil Seeds & Oil Palm (NMOOP)
GOI have sanctioned the oil palm development programme to Andhra Pradesh in 1992 under Technology Mission on Oil seeds & Pulses (TMO&P) and from 2004 under ISOPOM.
A special initiative was undertaken under RKVY during 2011-12 for implementation of a Special Programme on Oil Palm Area Expansion (OPAE) in order to augment the production of palm oil by 2.5 to 3.00 lakh tonnes in the next 5 years
Under this Programme an area of 5911.29 Ha has been covered as against the target of 14,728 Ha.
During 2014-15, Government of India has launched National Mission on Oil Seeds & Oil Palm (NMOOP) duly discontinuing RKVY (OP) and an Integrated Scheme of Oil seed, Pulses, Oil Palm and Maize (ISOPOM) was merged with NMOOP.
Status of Oilpalm in Telangana:
In Telangana two districts namely Nalgonda and Khammam are identified to be potentially viable areas for Oilpalm cultivation
The interventions proposed under the Mission will be in the ratio of 50:50 between the Central and the State Governments
Under this programme, Government is providing subsidies for plant material, cultivation assistance, Vermicompost, bore wells, drip irrigation, harvesting tools.
The oil palm development programme is being implemented in 52 mandals of 2 districts in Telangana state i.e Khammam & Nalgonda
