The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) Assistant Project Officer Akmal said that the workers of the Scheme would dig water conservation pits (Inkudu dumpalu) in the villages as the ground water resources were getting depleted at a fast pace.  

Birkur (Nizmabad): The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) Assistant Project Officer Akmal said that the workers of the Scheme would dig water conservation pits (Inkudu dumpalu) in the villages as the ground water resources were getting depleted at a fast pace.

On Tuesday, several water pits were dug up in Thimmapur village. Speaking on the occasion, he said that due to deficit rainfall in the district, steps have to be taken to prevent the water levels from falling. The level of the water table was falling drastically, he added. Village panchayat secretary Vanaja and filed assistant Dhan Singh were present.
