11 nominations rejected
The nominations of 11 candidates to the Khammam Municipal Corporation elections were rejected owing to various reasons after the scrutiny of the papers by the authorities on Thursday. It may be mentioned here that as many as 587 nominations have been filed for 50 divisions in the Corporation limits.

While the 41st Division had just four candidates in the fray, 2, 19, 29, 39 and 49 Divisions have the highest number of contenders with 14 apiece. In all, 471 candidates are in the race for 50 divisions.
According to sources, the break-up of candidates party-wise is: TRS 129; TDP 86; Congress 85; YSR Congress 63; CPM 53; CPI 17; BJP 12; Independents 102. A clear picture of the election scenario will emerge on Friday, the last day for withdrawing nominations.
