Telangana varsity gets a pat from MHRD for Wi-Fi initiative

Dichpally: A team from the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development which visited the Telangana University on Friday and appreciated the university’s Wi-Fi internet initiative. The senior consultant in the Union HRD Ministry Parameshwaran, who visited the campus, along with two others, stated that it was a commendable effort from a rural-based university to provide Wi-fi facility to the entire campus, offering free and unlimited internet free of cost to all its students and staff.

Parameshwaran said that the MHRD will strive to replicate the initiative in all other Universities in the country and this will be included in the policy initiative of the Ministry. He went round the University along with the Registrar Prof. R. Limbadri and inspected the wi-fi functioning and other facilities like hot spots installed for the purpose.

He expressed satisfaction over the initiative taken by the Telangana University, which he termed as a role model for other universities in the country with regard to the internet facility. He said that he would recommend to the MHRD to extend possible financial support to the University to continue the free Wi-Fi based internet facility in the campus in the years to come.

Parameshwaran interacted with the Registrar Prof Limbadri and wi-fi coordinator Atheeq Sultan Ghori and others. The University authorities felicitated the dignitary and other two officials, C S Rao and Subba Rao of the Quadgen Wi-Fi Solutions who accompanied him.
