Be it the up-gradation of Area Hospital or initiation of Rythu Bazar or construction of 8,000 houses for poor and a stadium in the city, the credit goes to the then Telugu Desam government, Nama Nageswara Rao claimed.

Khammam: All the development that Khammam has witnessed was during the regime of Telugu Desam government, former MP Nama Nageswara Rao said.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he accused the ruling TRS of resorting to undemocratic practices to influence the voters in the ensuing elections to Khammam Municipal Corporation. Winning and losing in politics is common, he said, urging the ruling party to uphold the spirit of democracy.

“Since the TRS government came to power in 2014, Khammam district hardly witnessed any development,” Nama said, expressing confidence that denizens in the city have been watching the failure of the governance.

Be it the up-gradation of Area Hospital or initiation of Rythu Bazar or construction of 8,000 houses to poor and a stadium in the city, the credit goes to the then Telugu Desam government, he said.

Stressing that neither the Congress nor the TRS developed the city, Sathupalli MLA Sandra Venkataveeraiah said that “Although the leaders deserted the party, no doubt the people are with the TDP. We are confident of clinching the Mayor post either on our own or with the support of Opposition parties.”

Referring to the construction of Shadikhana, bypass road and Bhakta Ramadasu Kalakshetram, he argued that people in Khammam have always voted against the party that is at the helm of affairs in State.
