A division bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal comprising Justice B Seshasayana Reddy and Ranjana Chowdary on Tuesday dismissed applications filed questioning a corrigendum notification issued by the South Central Railways to admit trainee apprentices after the tribunal granted an interim order against the notification.

The Railways pointed out that it was not a matter in relation with employment and therefore the petition was not maintainable. The Railways under the prior notification had sought to select apprentices on the basis of a written test. However, under the impugned corrigendum, it placed a higher priority for ITI holders.

The argument of the senior counsel appearing for the railways that the notification made it clear that selected candidates would not be appointed to the Railways found favour with the bench. The application was accordingly dismissed.
