Jeevandan marks 200th organ donation

Hyderabad: The State-run organ donation programme ‘Jeevandan’ that started in January 2013 reached a milestone with the latest organ donation of a 33-year-old lady (identity concealed) on March 5, 2016 when she was declared brain dead. Jeevandan marks its 200th organ donation.

The organs of the donor were transplanted in patients. Heart and kidney was transplanted at NIMS, liver and another kidney was transplanted at Osmania General Hospital. A senior official of Jeevandan said four donations on December 12 and 13 saved the lives of 16 patients.
