The MLAs and MLCs' salaries were recommended to be increased from Rs 1.25 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh per month by the amenities committee of the State Assembly in the meet at the Committee Hall on Monday. The proposal was endorsed by Irrigation Minister Harish Rao, Finance minister Etela Rajender, Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary, council chairman Swamy Goud and floor leaders of all parties.

A huge hike was also recommended by the committee in the vehicle loan from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 40 lakh along with the increase in pension for the MLAs and MLCs from Rs 50,000 to Rs 65,000 per month. Also, the medical assistance is to be made limitless while the pay hike beneficiaries include widows of former lawmakers and former legislators.
