Hyderabad: Commercial Taxes Minister T Srinivas Yadav on Tuesday said the government would set up integrated check posts to streamline tax collections along the State borders. The Minister was replying to one of the supplementary questions during the Question Hour in the Assembly.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) member Bajireddy Goverdhan sought to know whether the income from commercial taxes was adversely affected because of non-payment of taxes on actual turnover by the businessmen.

Srinivas Yadav informed that during 2014-15 the revenue estimated was Rs 27,777.92 crore and revenue receipts were 22,949.14 crore. The Minister informed that the current year target was Rs 33,497 crore and the government was reaching the target with the initiatives of the government.

Earlier, there was no strict vigil on tax evaders but now the government, without harassing businessmen, was encouraging paying their tax properly. Replying to another question, the Minister said in the undivided Andhra Pradesh the tax revenue generated from Telangana region was Rs 18,000 crore.

He said the government proposed to set up integrated check posts on the lines of Maharashtra along Telangana boarders for effective tax collection. He said a team of officials had visited Maharashtra to check the functioning of check posts there.
