JNU student union leader and member of All India Students Federation (AISF) Kanhaiya Kumar addressed the media at Sundaraiah Vignyana Kendram in Hyderabad on Thursday where he stated that the Joint Action Committee initiated agitation to seek justice for the research scholar Rohith Vemula who committed suicide on January 17 in Hyderabad Central University campus.
Elaborating on the formation of the joint action committee in Delhi and it's purpose, Kanhaiya Kumar said that no one can scare him as they are not afraid of rivals and that despite opposition, his agitation for bringing in Rohith Act will continue. He further said that the fight would continue for the sake of Dalits and the majority who are poor in India as every student has a right of social justice which should be without question.
Kanhaiya Kumar's agitation caused a lot of commotion on Thursday when rival party activists threw shoes at him. Following the incident, two Sangh-affiliated Goraksha Dal workers - Naresh Kumar and Pawan Kumar Reddy were taken into custody.
