Seven oil thieves nabbed
The Bibinagar police held seven persons of a gang for trying to steal diesel from HPCL pipeline near Padamati Somaram village of Bibinagar in the early hours of Monday. According to police, Shaik Mohammad, Syed Jakir of Mumbai and Pramod, Raj Kumar, Deepak, Venugopal and Ahmed of Karimnagar district formed as a gang of oil theft.
Nalgonda: The Bibinagar police held seven persons of a gang for trying to steal diesel from HPCL pipeline near Padamati Somaram village of Bibinagar in the early hours of Monday. According to police, Shaik Mohammad, Syed Jakir of Mumbai and Pramod, Raj Kumar, Deepak, Venugopal and Ahmed of Karimnagar district formed as a gang of oil theft.
As a part of their plan, Mustafa, Deepak and Venugopal on March 25 afternoon came to Padamati Somaram village of Bibinagar and checked the pipeline. After selecting a point to steal the oil, all the members of the group, on the same day night, came to the selected spot and dig a pit of 2 feet depth around the pipe.
They fled from there after watching the pipeline inspecting team and returned to the lodge in Hyderabad, where they took shelter. After giving one day gap, Raj Kumar, Pramod, Deepak again went to Padamati Somaram village on Sunday night. But again it was their bad luck that Bibinagar police reached the village as part of patrolling. After seeing the police, the culprits tried to flee from there.
But the alert cops caught them and during enquiry, they disclosed their oil stealing plan from HPCL pipeline. Based on their information, the police raided Sri Lakshmi lodge in Hyderabad in the early hours of Monday and arrested the other members of the gang. The police recovered various tools used to drill a hole in the pipeline and a car and on auto.
Bhongir DSP Mohan Reddy produced the culprits before the media here on Monday afternoon. He appreciated Bibinagar SI Praneeth Kumar and his crew, who arrested culprits.
