Kakatiya University Academic Senate approves 174.26 crore budget


Kakatiya University Academic Senate has approved a budget of Rs. 174.26 crore for the ensuing financial year 2016-17. Prof M Subrahmanya Sharma, Dean, Department of Commerce and Business Management, presided over the meeting of the Senate in the absence of the university In-charge Vice Chancellor T Chiranjeevulu.
Warangal: Kakatiya University Academic Senate has approved a budget of Rs. 174.26 crore for the ensuing financial year 2016-17. Prof M Subrahmanya Sharma, Dean, Department of Commerce and Business Management, presided over the meeting of the Senate in the absence of the university In-charge Vice Chancellor T Chiranjeevulu. He presented the budget which was unanimously approved by the members.
It was estimated that the University would get a revenue of Rs 152.59 crore and the expenditure would be Rs. 174.26 crore. With an opening balance of Rs. 12.39 crore, the fiscal deficit stands at Rs. 9.28 crore. The university needs Rs 106.84 crore towards paying salaries for the teaching and non-teaching staff while an amount of Rs. 67.03 crore has been sanctioned by the State government as grant-in-aid.
An amount of Rs 12.44 crore was set aside towards developmental activities which include Rs 10 lakh for the auditorium and Rs. 5 crore for KU College of Engineering and Technology. An amount of Rs 7.86 crore was earmarked for the KU Sports Board, Rs 1.69 crore for NSS activities and Rs 36.67 crore for the Examination Branch.
Further, Rs 12 lakh was allocated for providing internet facilities, Rs. 13.35 lakh for university library, Rs 7.8 lakh for University Health Centre, Rs 9.5 lakh for welfare and recreations activities, Rs 11.25 lakh for student services, Rs. 3 lakh for library automation, Rs 25 lakh for plantation, beautification of campus, maintenance of lawns and Rs 20 lakh for laying of roads.
In-charge Registrar Prof Khaja Althaf Hussain presented a report on the developmental activities undertaken by the university. Former Vice Chancellors Prof Vidyavathi and Prof N Linga Murthy, KU SDLCE director Prof Ch Dinesh Kumar, Ampashayya Naveen, Pokala Chander, Finance Officer PV Ramesh Kumar, univeristy’s PRO V Krishnamacharya, principals, deans, heads of various departments and administrative officers were present.
