Mahbubnagar: With no heat wave monitoring centres, people’s health is at stake in Mahbubnagar. Despite rising temperatures, the health department in the district has not yet set up a heat wave monitoring cell to record patients affected by heat wave in the district.

The heat wave monitoring centre would create awareness about the heat effects and provide required medication to the public approaching the centre. The mercury has crossed more than 41 degrees in March itself and it is expected that it would surge further by mid April and May. In view of more severe heat days to come ahead, it is high time the Health department set up a heat wave monitoring centre.

However, district Collector Dr T K Sridevi has appointed a three-member committee to study in to the cases of heat wave related deaths in the country. In a review conducted on Friday, she warned the officials of Health department to give up lackadaisical attitude and work with responsibility towards delivering quality healthcare services to the people.
