Siddipet: The fate of aspirants for 28 wards in Siddipet municipality has been locked in the voting machines as the polling for these wards has been completed peacefully barring a few minor incidents, where police used had to lathicharge political parties’ workers.

By 5 pm, the voting percentage was reported to be 71.38 percent. However, it was lesser than the 80 per cent voting recorded in 2005 municipal elections. The results would be announced on April 11.

BJP candidate B Venkat from Ward No 17 alleged that the police had lathicharged his party workers for no reason. He also alleged that the names of 150 voters from his wards went missing from the list. Venkat is the son of former municipal chairman B Ramesh.
