The celestial wedding of Lord Rama with Sita on ‘Saptami’, two days before the Sri Rama Navami celebrations, was conducted on Thursday night at Peddagudem village of Wanapathy mandal as part of the week-long Brahmotsavam celebrations. Devotees in large numbers from across the district thronged the town to witness the eagerly awaited event. 

Wanaparthy: The celestial wedding of Lord Rama with Sita on ‘Saptami’, two days before the Sri Rama Navami celebrations, was conducted on Thursday night at Peddagudem village of Wanapathy mandal as part of the week-long Brahmotsavam celebrations. Devotees in large numbers from across the district thronged the town to witness the eagerly awaited event.

The ‘Ratotsavam’ will be conducted on ‘Navami’, Archaka of Kodanda Ramaswamy Temple Ramaswamy told The Hans India. The Brahmotsavam in the temple began on Wednesday with ‘Ankurarpanam’. After the ‘Kalyanam’, ‘Prabotsavam’ (procession with Lord’s idol), ‘Ratotsavam’, ‘Chakrasnanam’ will follow on Friday, Saturday and Sunday respectively. The celebrations will conclude on Sunday.

A festive atmosphere prevailed in the village, with residents inviting their relatives for the Sri Rama Navami celebrations. The temple was built in 1791 by Wanaparthy Shalivahana Princess Sankaramma in memory of her husband and king Rajarameswara Rao. The Lord’s idol was installed by Srirangam Jeer Swamy. Since then regular rituals are being conducted.
