Hyderabad: Protesting against the State government’s failure in dealing with the severe drought conditions in Telangana, the Congress will hold protest programmes, dharnas and other demonstrations across the State on April 27.

TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy said the Congress would be holding demonstrations in every mandal, division and constituency headquarters

In a media statement, TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy said the Congress would be holding demonstrations in every mandal, division and constituency headquarters for pressuring the government to take some serious initiative on this
burning issue.

He pointed out that even though there was severe drinking water shortage, the government had failed to ensure any alternative arrangements during the summer. Lack of cattle fodder and poor implementation of MNREGA programme were other issues affecting the farmers and their cattle in the villages. “We shall be going forward with the protest programme as decided in the TPCC executive meeting held on April 23,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that sufficient work was not being given under MNREGA and payment was being delayed for several months. Payment of MNREGA scheme was being diverted to other schemes wherein TRS leaders were making their commissions. He called upon the party men to involve actual and adversely affected MNREGA labour in the agitation.
