Hyderabad: Save Education Committee demanded the State government to immediately rollback its decision of closing about 4,014 schools across the State. Addressing a round table conference here organised by Save Education Committee at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram on Tuesday, Save Education Committee president, Prof K Chakradhar Rao lamented that the closure of schools was not a sign and demanded that no school in the State should be closed.

He blamed the government for poor development of government schools and said that due to lack of basic facilities, teachers, books and uniforms the standards of these schools were dented. He further said that the government has to give support to children by providing them nutritious meals.
Chakradhar also lamented that the government was permitting private schools to collect huge tuition fees from students and demanded the government to regulate school fees.

He also demanded the government to increase the budget allocations toward the Education Department. Save Education Committee, General Secretary, Prof G Haragopal said that the government’s decision of closing schools would be affecting SC and ST children and said that the issue is across all States in the country.
