Telangana Formation Day will be a one-day affair

Khammam: The second Telangana Formation Day on June 2, will be a grand affair but not like the first, which was a weeklong celebration. However, it would be nothing short of a mega event with the government directing all the district administrations to celebrate with pomp and gaiety from village-level.

Reviewing the arrangements here on Friday, the District Collector, Dana Kishore, instructed the officials to form committees to ensure festive atmosphere every nook and corner of the district. There would be no holiday on June 2. “National flags will be hoisted on government offices,” the Collector said, directing the officials to take measures to spruce up and illuminate the buildings.

He told the officials to make arrangements for the distribution of sweets and fruits to poor, patients, inmates of orphanages and NREGA workers. Plans are also afoot to felicitate the families of Telangana martyrs besides offering floral tributes to those, who laid their life for the separate State movement.

This apart, plans are also on the anvil to organise blood donation camps, candle rallies and Bathukamma festival mobilising government employees and Self-Help Group women. Besides organising cultural programmes, Kavi Sammelanams and Mushairas in the evening, the administration will also felicitate eminent personalities and those excelled in their fields.
