Hyderabad: The maiden Global Telangana Convention will be held in Dallas from Friday with the participation of over 5,000 delegates from 55 cities across 35 nations. The Convention, spearheaded by the Telangana Development Forum (TDF), seeks to bring NRIs from Telangana onto a common platform as part of an exercise to evolve Bangaru Telangana and also to enable them to pay their debt to their motherland.

“We played a major role in Telangana struggle. Now it is our responsibility to contribute from our (NRI) side for the development of the new State,” said TDF President K Vishweshwar Reddy. “We are trying our best to bring every Telangana NRI onto a single platform,” he added.

The forum, which has become very active in the subsequent phase of the TRS stir for Statehood to Telangana, seeks to raise donations to be used for the development of farmers who have been caught in a neck-deep crisis. “Our motive is converting our State into Golden Telangana.

We will strive for it and also pass on the responsibility to the younger generations,” Vishweshwar Reddy told The Hans India. “This is the biggest convention of Telangana NRIs outside the country. We are planning ‘Pravasi Telangana Diwas’ in India soon,” he said.

The Convention will discuss various issues with experts for the development of Telangana society which will be useful in attracting investments in various spheres of activity in the State. Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, IT Minister K Taraka Rama Rao, GHMC Mayor Bontu Rammohan, several Telangana ministers, MLAs and experts from various walks of life will take part in the convention.
