Warangal: The first conference of Technical Employees of South Indian Universities organised by Kakatiya University Technical Staff Association KUTSA has began at the university here on Friday.
The two-day event presided over by chairman of the conference V Krishnama Charya was inaugurated by Mahabubabad MP Prof A Seetharam Naik. Golden Jubilee of All India University Employees Confederation AIUEC was celebrated on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, the MP said As former faculty member and executive member of the University I am fully aware of the issues related to the non-teaching fraternity.I promise to resolve problems being faced by university employees at UGC level.
He pointed out that there were anomalies in respect of many technical posts in different universities and felt the need to have uniformity. The State government has been seriously working on appointment of vice-chancellors to the universities.
Addressing the conference, Warangal (West) MLA D Vinay Bhasker assured to make efforts to take the resolutions of the conference to the notice of the government for consideration.
The conference convener Pulla Srinivas said the main objective of the conference was to discuss problems of technical employees of the universities on a common platform and to find solutions for the same. Comprehensive report on their issues would be submitted to both Centre and State governments.
The KU controller of examinations Prof K Purushotham pointed out that the staff and the block grant granted to the universities were not increasing on par with increase in strength of students over the years.
The association representatives of different universities decried alleged negligent attitude of the State government towards universities. ‘Our situation has become bad to worse in Telangana State and our hopes are dashed,’ said leaders like K Manohar, B Gnaneshwar, S Mahipal Reddy Y Kishore and others.
At least now the government should try to focus to resolve university employees problems, they added. The AIUEC secretary-general MB Sajjan called upon the university technical employees to stage collective struggles to get their rightful demands fulfilled.
KUTSA leaders V Nandaiah KLN Rao S Balaji, N Ramu, S Padmavathi Zahir Ahmed G Sarangapani B Prabhakar A Narsimha Murthy and large of representatives from different universities were present.
