New Delhi: CPI national secretary K Narayana has slammed both the Centre and the State governments of the two Telugu States for cheating the people by not implementing either the manifesto promises or that of the Reorganisation Act.

Speaking to the media here on Saturday, Narayana said the two Chief Ministers, K Chandrashekar Rao and N Chandrababu Naidu, were cosying up with the BJP at the cost of development and welfare of the people of their States.

Their double game was obvious as they were not pressurising the Centre for either special status or special packages. On the other hand, BJP national president Amit Shah was ill treating the two States in projecting the Central aid as BJP's generosity or philanthropy. He said reminding Shah that special package and status were the rights of the States.

"The two States are not standing at the BJP's doorstep with begging bowls. It is our right and we are seeking it. We are not seeking alms but our rightful share of funds," he said.

Turning his attention to KCR, Narayana criticised him for adopting a use and throw policy with regard to the JAC and attacking Kodandaram. The attack on Kodandaram by the Ministers was unwarranted and distasteful, he said.

Terming his cabinet as ‘adulterated’, Narayana said it was unfortunate that KCR preferred to take into his fold all anti-Telangana forces while dumping those who fought for Telangana cause soon after coming to power.

Referring to the TDP government's onslaught on a section of media, Narayana said it was obnoxious and tantamount to attack on freedom of speech. The restrictions imposed on media were anti-democratic, he said.

On Kapus agitation, Narayana sought to know where was Pawan Kalyan hiding nowadays instead of coming out to protest the repression unleashed by the TDP government against Kapus in the State.

If the government was sincere in its resolve to provide reservations for Kapus, it should seek a constitutional amendment instead of dilly dallying on the issue, he added.
