Hyderabad: The headquarter assets of State Road Transport Corporation have once again become the bone of contention. The Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) employees have been demanding that the RTC management should not move out of Hyderabad without taking a concrete assurance on the share in assets located headquarters.
The assets in Hyderabad have remained a main hurdle in the division of the RTC. Though the corporation has been divided into Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for administrative convenience, the distribution of assets has been kept pending until the Sheila Bhide committee submits its report.
However, with the Andhra Pradesh government deciding to shift its administration to Vijayawada, the issue has once again come to fore.
The Employees Union leaders are agitating over moving out of Hyderabad to Vijayawada. The Union leaders argue that it would be detrimental for the APSRTC to move out of Hyderabad without deciding on the division of assets. The AP Employees Union leaders want their corporation to initiate talks with the Telangana unions. But the National Mazdoor Union (NMU) leaders urged the management not to move until a decision on assets in Hyderabad is taken.
The assets include old central office land and new buses parking place, RTC Kala Bhavan and Kalyana Mandapam, land belonging to Transport Academy and hostel, RTC Chairman Building, buildings of three RTC officers at Mettuguda, the small sized vehicle maintenance depot adjacent to Musheerabad-two depot, Musheerabad dispensary, Kachiguda quarters land, Guest House in Hyderguda, quarters in Chilkalguda and Wind power project established in Ramagiri in Anantapur district, Bus Bhavan, Tarnaka Hospital and Bus Body Building Unit, Miyapur.
The EU leaders argue that as per the AP Reorganisation Act, 58 per cent share has to be given to Andhra Pradesh Corporation in the assets. If headquarter assets are not settled, the AP Corporation would have to lose Rs 1,500 crore as share as per the market value, the leaders said. The Union leaders are also up in arms over the move of the TSRTC to consider buses from Andhra Pradesh to Hyderabad as interstate movement.
The leaders argue that Hyderabad is the joint capital and there is no need for applying interstate permit for APSRTC buses to make a trip to the State capital. The Employees Union leader P Damodar Rao said presently 800 services are run to Hyderabad and if these buses are considered interstate services, then 400 services would go to Telangana. He alleged that there was no response from the Andhra Pradesh officials over this move of Telangana officials.
