Hyderabad: Justice M S Ramachandra Rao of the Hyderabad High Court on Thursday directed the authorities of Telangana State to spell out their stand on petitions by farmers challenging the action of the authorities in not paying compensation as per the provisions of New Land Acquisition Act 2013.
The judge was dealing with a batch of petitions filed by Babu Lingampally, resident of Chintalthana village under Sircilla Mandal in Karimnagar district and Swan Youth Association of the village.
The petitioners questioned the action on the part of the authorities in paying compensation and issuing house site pattas to the petitioners under the Resettlement and Rehabilitation Policy 2005 without providing resettlement and rehabilitation as per Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.
Counsel for the petitioner Ramprasad Teegala submitted to the court that in some of the neighbouring villages of Chintalthana, the respondents had taken possession of the lands and houses for Midmanair project and compensation was also awarded to the affected families. While adjourning the case, the judge directed the respondents to file their counter affidavits.
