Nalgonda: Fed up with the officials’ apathy in paying salaries and other perks for the last four months, municipal outsourcing workers locked the main gate of Kodad municipality on Wednesday.

According to CITU leaders Radhakrishna and Basavaiah, salaries were not paid to as many as 80 outsourcing sanitation workers for the last four years and their PF and ESI are also not deposited in their accounts. The officials were responding to the repeated appeals of the workers, they pointed out.

Hence, the workers were forced to launch indefinite strike from June 21 in order to solve their problems. As a part of their protest, the workers, led by CITU, have locked the gate of the municipal office. The workers and CITU leaders demanded the officials to take initiation to address the issues of the workers.
