PROF JAYASHANKAR’S DEATH ANNIVERSARY

Hyderabad: Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) chairman Prof Kodandram on Thursday expressed displeasure for not organising Telangana ideologue Prof Jayashankar’s death anniversary officially by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government.

Prof Kodandram said he was pained as the government did not organise the death anniversary of Prof Jayashankar officially. He suggested to the TRS government to at least correct its mistake by celebrating officially the birth anniversary of Telangana ideologue on August 6.

Echoing with the Opposition parties, he opined that the State government was forcibly acquiring lands of farmers for Mallanna Sagar project. “We will extend our support to the displaced persons,” he said. Demanding that the government render justice to the affected farmers, Prof Kodandaram felt that the farmers were being victimised by the State government by violating the law.

Referring to the proposed hike in the power and RTC bus charges, the JAC chairman said nobody was in a position to accost the government now, but he would definitely talk about the issue when the hike was announced by the State government.

Lamenting that the government had failed to redress the grievances of the agitating Telangana advocates, he said the JAC would tour affected villages from June 30 to elicit difficulties of the people due to the opencast mining.
