Warangal: Rich tributes were paid to former premier late PV Narasimha Rao on the occasion of his 95th birth anniversary here on Tuesday.

The leaders of different political parties and organisations have garlanded the statue of PV at Hanamkonda bus stand junction. MLA D Vinay Bhasker, Archaka Samakhya working president G Upendra Sharma, Telangana Brahmana Samakhya Greater Warangal president Valluri Pavan Kumar, members V Raj Kumar, Prof D Srinivas, B Shambu Prasad Sharma and others have offered their homage to PV Narasimha Rao.

Speaking on the occasion, Samakhya leaders have said Narasimha Rao was popularly called a ‘modern Chanakya’ for his vision and steering in tough economic and political reforms when India was going through economic crises.

He was the first Prime Minister of India from Telangana and made the people here proud. During his tenure, the popularity of the nation has reached great heights.

PV played a significant role in armed freedom struggle against the Nizams of Hyderabad, said Upendra Sharma. Narasimha Rao was the first PM of India to lead a minority government for a full term, he added.

At a programme held at district Congress Bhavan, the party Greater Warangal unit working president Rajanala Srihari, senior leaders B Prabhakar Reddy and others have recalled the services of PV to the nation.

Narasimha Rao even though busy in politics has managed to master many languages and spend his time in literary works. “He was the India’s only PM to be both a polyglot and a fond writer’ Srihari said.
