Nalgonda: Stage set for the massive plantation drive on July 8 along the national highway 65 at Gundrampally of Chityal mandal, which Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will launch at 11 am.

District Collector P Satyanarayana Reddy, along with Additional Joint Collector Venkat Rao and DRO Ravi Nayak held a press meet at the Collectorate here on Wednesday and explained about Haritha Haram programme.

Addressing the media, the Collector said the district has less forest coverage in the State and in the country also. About 13 mandals in the district recorded below normal rainfall in the months of June and July as there is no 33 percent of forest area in the district.

And it is because of rich green coverage Khammam and Adilabad districts received more than normal rainfall in June month, he stated.

Satyanarayana Rao urged the villagers living near national highway -65 to participate in the massive plantation drive to make the Haritha Haram programme a grand success.
