​Hyderabad: The Banjara Hills police on Monday took two-day custody of the engineering student who drove the car in a drunken state and has been accused of being responsible for the death of two persons, including 10-year-old girl Ramya. He was arrested and remanded to judicial custody within four hours of the accident.

R Shraveel (20), a third year engineering student from Keshav Memorial Engineering College at Narayanguda was driving an i10 car at a high speed after consuming alcohol on the fateful day. His rash and negligent driving resulted in his vehicle hitting the road divider and flipping on to a car coming in the opposite direction on Road Number 3 at Banjara Hills on July 1, killing two occupants of the car and leaving three others in the car injured.

Two of the occupants P Rajesh (38), a software engineer from Madhapur and his nephew P Ramya (10), a Class IV student were killed in the accident, while five other occupants in Shraveel’s car suffered injuries. Rajesh died on the spot and Ramya died on Saturday after battling for life for nine days.

The police had arrested Shraveel and remanded him within four hours of the accident and sent him to judicial custody.Considering the petition of the police, the Nampally Court on Monday allowed two-day custody of the accused Shraveel. The police told the court that they wanted to conduct an identification parade of the accused. The police were told to produce Shraveel in the court on July 14.
